ArtPlayce at the Edge Current

Edgecumbe Presbyterian Church has gallery space in the sanctuary and adjacent areas. Exhibitors have included painters, photographers, doodlers, textile artists and Highland High School art students’ work. Some of the artists who have shared their artwork with us have been Kirsten Malcom Berry, Annie Young, Chillon Leach, and Sister Ansgar Holmberg. Last Lenten season members of the congregation shared crosses they owned that were from a variety of sources such as international travel and family pieces.

Exhibits may be viewed Sunday mornings from 9-10 and 11-12. Or by appointment. Sunday morning service is at 10. All are welcome.

Why Do You Create?

All community members are invited to bring in a piece that you have made or something new.
We ask: WHY DO WE CREATE ART?
Some might say...
*To express the deepest levels of human thoughts and emotions
* Because I like the colors
*To show the world the true beauty of something small
* Because that is how I communicate
* To express feelings of self, others or the world
* Sorrow, sadness
* To avoid house cleaning or doing the dishes
* To feel good about myself
* Anger, frustration
* Mourning, compassion, to honor someone we love
* To spend time with colors, different materials
* For the challenge
* BECAUSE ART CAN BE TRANSFORMATIVE
